Privacy Policy

aidatacentermap.euhow we handle data — independent, non-commercial project. Belgium / EU.

1. Who we are

The AI Data Center Map is an independent, non-commercial, educational project that maps data centers across Europe and their environmental footprint. It is run for the public good. This policy explains the limited personal data we handle and why, under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What we collect

We only collect what you choose to send us. If you report a data center, we store the details you submit (site name, location, optional address and notes). If you contact us as press or media, we store your name, outlet, role, email and message. If you subscribe to updates, we store your email and optional name. We do not create accounts or profiles for visitors.

3. IP addresses & spam protection

When you submit a form, we briefly record the sending IP address and may look up its approximate country and city to detect spam and abuse. This is used only to keep the project usable and is not used to identify or track individuals.

4. Analytics

If analytics are enabled, we use a privacy-friendly, cookieless tool that counts page views and aggregate traffic. It sets no cookies, does not follow you across other sites, and does not build a profile of you. We never sell or share data for advertising.

5. Cookies & local storage

The public site sets no tracking cookies. We use a single browser local-storage entry to remember that you have dismissed the welcome notice, so it is not shown again. Signing in to the admin area sets a strictly necessary session cookie used only by the site operator.

6. Email & press replies

We reply to press and media messages using our own mail system. Your email address is used only to respond to your enquiry. The owner's contact details are never shared, and we never sell or rent your email address.

7. How long we keep data & your rights

We keep submissions only as long as needed for the project — for example to verify and publish a reported site, or to answer your message. Under the GDPR you can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal data you have sent us. To do so, contact us via the press page.

8. Third parties

We rely on a small number of services to run the site: our hosting provider, an IP geolocation lookup used for spam checks, and (if enabled) our self-hosted analytics. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

9. Changes & contact

We may update this policy as the project evolves; the current version always lives on this page. Questions about privacy? Reach us through the press or contact page on this site.
